Five Favorites: Vol 3

I’ve been taking a blogging break during Holy Week and after Easter since Brian had some vacation time and we were spending time as a family. But I’ve been itching to blog again so I’ll do an easy Five Favorites today.

Spring Colors

I have finally said goodbye to the days of wearing all black or only dark, drab colors. I think when I was younger I subconsciously was trying to blend into the background rather than to stand out in my plus size self. These days I’ve made peace with my size (even if I am still trying to reduce it) and am not afraid of a little color anymore.

I saw this green ruffled sweater at Macy’s and thought it was such a pretty color that I bought it to wear for Easter. (It’s a little brighter in real life. )

Here’s my artsy headshot with the sweater.

 The Martha Stewart Kitchen Collection

Along with being BFF’s with color, I have also gotten more frilly in my old age. I went into Macy’s for a quick item (probably that green sweater) and also came out with a bag full of goodies for my Easter basket. (Thanks to the One-Day sale and extra coupons I had.) I’ve been wanting to change the colors of my kitchen from Mexican reds and yellows to a sort of 50’s retro red and light blue and I thought these would be perfect.

Towels

 Oven Mitt

I even got the matching apron since it just makes me want to get into the kitchen and cook and bake. (I need all the motivation I can get.)

Throw Pillows

The family room, which is connected to our kitchen area, also needed some fresh color. I found this cute pillow at TJ Max for $6, cheap enough to buy two.

Staycations

We originally planned to take a vacation to So Cal to visit my family over Easter break but our plans changed and we had a staycation instead. On Tuesday we went to the Point Lobos State Park for a picnic and hike. If you are ever visiting the Monterey Bay in CA you must make a visit!

Pinterest

I love Pinterest and getting new recipes, organizational ideas, and super simple craft ideas that require no sewing whatsoever. I’m starting new link up next week (to replace the old Making It Count). It will be a Pinterest Party every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month. You can link something that you saw on Pinterest and then tried yourself. Or you can link your own original idea so we can pin it to our boards. (That way, you can participate even if you aren’t on Pinterest.)

I made two logos. Which one do you like better?? Let me know in the comments. 🙂

The first installment is next week, Tuesday, April 9th. I hope to see you there!

The first one seems to fit the theme better but I prefer the second one and I think it’s more pinteresty if that’s a word.

    • bobbi says:

Hi Nikki, Thanks for voting. I actually liked the second one better since it had a little more color and you described it perfectly, I seemed more pinteresty. Everyone else seemed to like that one too so that’ll be the one I use. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

I loooove your sweater! That is so pretty! I am pretty color-phobic, I wear a lot of black. Those of you who are fearless in color and pattern inspire me!

Both of your graphics for the link up are super cute! I must admit that the second one is my favorite, it’s just so fun!
You’ve got me thinking about finally trying some of the things I’ve pinned. I’ve missed sharing about it on the blog!

    • bobbi says:

Hi Andrea, from reading your blog I don’t picture you as color phobic. You are so lively and playful that is seems color in your dress would naturally reflect that. I started slowly adding red flats to my jeans and black top. Then some colored jewelry until I bought a top that was not black, brown, navy blue or army green. LOL. Eventually it comes natural and I found that the color can actually perk up my mood and add some bounce to my step. Okay, that statement made me laugh but it’s true! 😉

Thanks for stopping by! I hope to see you next week for the Pinterest party. 🙂 I’m going to get off the computer now and see what I can create so I’ll have something to post! LOL

I love all of the fantastic colors in your favs! I’m such a black, white, and grey girl, and I’m really trying to branch out and embrace the color wheel these days. Thanks for some inspiration!

    • bobbi says:

Hi Cate, I’m so glad you stopped by. Glad I could give you a little color inspiration. (That sounded funny coming from me.) I still love black and white but I just add a little color (usually red) with my shoes, bracelet ect. Spring is the perfect time to experiment. From your photos, it seems like you have such great style and some color would make you pop even more. Especially a blue to bring out the gorgeous color of your eyes. 🙂

I had no idea Martha Stewart had a new line. LOVE those colors. LOVE them!!
Great choice of the pillow for your family room. happy colors!!
I too am a plus-size woman and I learned a long time ago to embrace who I am and my love of color. So even though I have recently lost some weight, I still dress in bright happy colors because that is me.
You look beautiful in green and I love the beautiful front ruffle. Very feminine. LOVE it!!

    • bobbi says:

Thanks, Mary! I am not sure if the line is new or if I am just late in seeing it. I checked online and some of the items were unavailable. They did have them in my local store, however. Congrats on the weight loss! I know just how tough it is to do. Ugh. Thankfully the weather is so much nicer now so I can resume my walking.

Thanks for stopping by and hope to hear from you again. 🙂

  • EML @ Barefoot and Sometimes Pregnant says:

I like the second icon better. Also, I don’t normally shop at Macy’s, but I think I am going to have to go get those towels since they would match my kitchen perfectly and would even match my curtains.

    • bobbi says:

EML, they are really cute! I checked and they aren’t available online anymore but our store still carried them. And thanks for voting. 🙂

  • Jeannine says:

Very pretty Easter sweater! And what awesome kitchen colors!

  • Rebekah Es says:

Your headshot is beautiful! I love that sweater and the color on you is perfect.
